Hydro System 2008

Just in time for summer, this insulated, hybrid deep water culture hydroponic system was planted out with 3 varieties of tomato, japanese eggplant, and basil. Notable are the mag-drive pump, inner spray skirt, and evaporative cooling fan (in near right corner). The plan is to trellis the plants up and across the ceiling. System can maintain 30F below ambient temperature on dry hot summer days. A typical day in the greenhouse is 95-105, with water temps never exceeding 75F. The addition of an aquarium heater in winter should allow the plants to stay productive for quite a few months. Nutrient temp, EC, and pH are monitored. I will web-enable environmental monitoring and mount web-cam when I get a chance 8-^>
